This game is recommended for ages 9+. Kids have to be fairly good readers to participate or have adults playing along to help. Some of the rules are hard to understand at first, but after several games they become clearer. I would recommend children playing with an adult unless they are older or more advanced. It is somewhat complex in its strategies like Monopoly. We did create a few new rules in order to play with some younger children. Still fun, as the game recreates the entire story of the Wizard of Oz. The markers shaped as Dorothy's shoes were disappointing.
